Viana do Alentejo

Viana do Alentejo is a quiet village in the Évora district of Alentejo. Besides the Castle and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aires, you must not miss the picturesque streets and also appreciate the typical handicrafts of the region, namely pottery. Also worthy of note is the manufacture of Chocalhos (cowbells) in Portugal, a trade and cultural event in Alentejo and Alcáçovas (Viana do Alentejo), which has been classified by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. In April takes place the famous Pilgrimage on horseback with hundreds of participants having its beginning in Moita and end in Viana of the Alentejo.
